Did you know that Lavender Magazine is now covering the local Bear scene? The February 2009 issue profiles Kevin Beam, President of North Country Bears, and Rick Perry, Cofounder of Minneapolis Movie Bears!
Since November, Lavender has been running a series of articles introducing its regular readership to our community. The magazine’s editorial staff tapped local writer Randy Stern to write the initial series under the title “Grin and Bear It.” There is a possibility this will become a regular part of bi-weekly GLBT magazine.

Bear Coffee Test Grounds
Join other bears for coffee and conversation every Wednesday at a new location and time!
The guys would like to try out a new venue called Lily's Cafe (formerly Columbia Grounds) in Columbia Heights and also change the hours from 6-8 pm every Wednesday night. The coffee shop is located at 3301 Central Ave NE. Lily's Cafe has fresh soup, salads and sandwiches along with free wi-fi and a great patio garden.

Local Social Organization: North Country Bears
North Country Bears (NCB) is a local nonprofit organization that hosts events for the bear community and those interested in being a part of it. The organization, which consists of men of all ages, strives to provide a suitable meeting place for bears to mingle. No membership fee is required, but admission is charged for certain activities.
